High Speed Industrial Doors

New state of the art high speed door for Kannegiesser, Banbury

Project Name: Kannegiesser

Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a high speed industrial door for the industrial equipment supplier, Kannegiesser, at their site in Banbury. The Kannegiesser team were interested in a new state of the art high speed door installed onto their premises. The clients' needs reflected an easy operation solution that would maintain high levels of functionality for many years to come including withstanding heavy use throughout the course of a working day without operation efficiency decreasing. 

After introducing the client to a wide range of high speed doors making recommendations on models that would be suitable for their needs. Upon confirmation, the BGS team coordinated closely with the client to make sure that the installation work could be completed at a time that would not be disruptive to everyday Kannegiesser’s business practices.

Post installation, the BGS team carried out thorough testing on the door after installation to make sure the door was operating correctly as well as providing extensive maintenance advice with the client to keep their high-speed door in the best possible condition. Overall, the Kannegiesser team was left wholly satisfied with the highly functional high-speed door that we installed from scratch.

 

Industrial Sectional Overhead Doors

Enhancing Operational Infrastructure at Tidworth Tank Storage Facility

Project Name: ALI 013 Tank Storage Unit

Location: VCP2 Army Base, Tidworth, Wiltshire

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of 18 manual sectional overhead industrial doors as part of a refurbishment project on a tank storage facility in Tidworth. The scope included six sectional doors incorporating integrated personnel pass doors. Finished in a Carmine Red powder coating, providing these doors with a distinctive appearance similar to those commonly installed at fire stations.

As the project formed part of a live construction site, strict compliance with site-specific health and safety procedures was essential. Engineers adhered to approved method statements and risk assessments throughout the works and maintained the required standards, including the use of five-point PPE and valid CSCS certification. The Novoferm Group including BGS places safety, quality and compliance at the forefront of every project. This commitment is supported by a range of industry-recognised accreditations, including Constructionline Gold, CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, with ISO 14001 currently in progress.

Through effective planning, coordination and collaboration with the principal contractor and other trades on site, BGS successfully completed the installation of all 18 doors within the allocated programme, contributing to the successful delivery of the wider refurbishment project.

 

Supporting Operational Efficiency at Scania, Aberdeen

Project Name: Scania, Aberdeen

Location: Aberdeen, Scotland

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of 7 sectional overhead industrial doors as part of a refurbishment project for Scania at their Aberdeen depot. The site required reliable, high-duty doors capable of supporting continuous workshop operations and controlling the movement of large commercial vehicles. These products were essential to support daily operation whilst maintaining efficiency. Replacing all seven doors was the most effective way to reduce the risk of any business downtime to ensure the could continue working at full capacity. The team managed the project from initial assessment through to installation, ensuring the new doors were fitted safely and with minimal impact on site operations.

Through effective planning, coordination and collaboration, the BGS team carried out site visits before installation planning how the doors would be delivered, offloaded and stored safely and correctly, working alongside Scania directly ensuring that only one bay was affected at any point to limit or restrict interruption to working or blocking off any access routes. This allowed the installation to be completed safely and efficiently with minima disruption

Delivering transformative solutions to enhance industrial spaces at Scania, Stansted

Project Name: Scania, Stansted

Location: Stansted, London

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a number of sectional overhead industrial doors as part of a refurbishment project for Scania at their Stansted depot. Upon inspection, the existing sectional doors were not just worn out but they also restricted the flow of natural light into the workshops, creating a dim work environment lacking the vibrancy needed for optimal productivity. 

BGS, addressed this challenged and embarked on replacing the current obsolete products with new sectional overhead doors, with the primary objective of introducing more natural light into the workshops, transforming the ambiance and boosting the efficiency of daily operations.

The enhanced lighting conditions have the potential to improve employee morale, reduce energy costs and ultimately contribute to a more sustainable work environment. BGS don't just replace doors; they reimagine workspaces. This project showcases the dedication to innovative solutions that elevate industries and provide tangible benefits.

 

Roller Shutter Industrial Doors

Replacing a Corrosion-Damaged Industrial Roller Door at Cawdor Barracks

Project Name: Cawdor Barracks, Haverfordwest

Location: Haverfordwest, Wales

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of an industrial roller shutter door for Cawdor Barracks in Haverfordwest, Wales. The team were originally contacted to survey and assess the condition of their current industrial roller shutter which had sustained rust and wind damage. Upon assessment, it was evident that the corrosion damage was too severe and therefore any repair work was no longer an option, necessitating the installation of a new industrial roller shutter door. The new product had to be rust-resistant, able to withstand strong winds, and highly durable, to ensure long-term functionality and reliability.

After introducing the client to a wide range of industrial roller shutter doors, BGS coordinated and scheduled the installation across two days avoiding any interruptions to the client’s day to day operations.

Post installation, the BGS team carried out thorough testing on the door after installation to make sure the door was operating correctly as well as providing extensive maintenance advice with the client to keep their industrial roller shutter, in the best possible condition.

Restoring Critical Access at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals

Project Name: Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Royal Preston Hospital, Lancashire

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of an industrial roller shutter door for Lancashire Teaching Hospital situated at Royal Preston Hospital. The team were originally contacted to survey and assess damage to their existing industrial roller shutter. Upon assessment, it was evident that the current door was beyond repair, necessitating the installation of a new industrial roller shutter door.

After introducing the client to a wide range of industrial roller shutter doors, BGS set to work safely removing the damaged shutters that were deformed, with distorted guide rails, failed motor and a damaged canopy and replacing this with a new tubular motor industrial roller shutter being installed. This approach reduced mechanical complexity, simplified control arrangements, and ensured long-term reliability and maintainability. The selected door configuration provided adequate operational coverage for the opening while reducing the number of moving components and potential failure points. Motor capacity and control specification were matched to duty requirements and site usage. The new installation restored secure access, and the site was handed back in a safe and operational condition.

The works were carried out within a live hospital environment, requiring strict control of access, working practices, and site conduct. Noise, dust, obstruction, and disruption to surrounding operations had to be minimised at all times. The work area needed to be secured safely during removal activities and returned to service promptly.

Strengthening Weather Resilience at Mottisfont Abbey

Project Name: National Trust, Mottisfont Abbey

Location: Romsey, Hampshire

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of an industrial roller shutter door for the National Trust at Mottisfont Abbey in Romsey, Hampshire. The team were originally contacted to survey and assess the condition of their current industrial roller shutter which were a little outdated and ineffective at preventing water ingress. The client required an upgraded, automated solution to improve operational efficient and weather protection.

Upon assessment, it was evident that the current doors were in a poor condition, necessitating the installation of a new industrial roller shutter door. The client required a durable, industrial grade replacement with automatic functionality to eliminate manual handling and overall improve weather resistance ensuring long-term functionality and reliability.

Before completion of the Installation, The National Trust completed works increasing the size of the threshold drain and installed a three phase power supply to support the new doors, as previously these were two issues highlighted upon inspection as points requiring attention. These modifications ensured the site was ready for the replacement.

The BGS team carried out the installation is a safe and efficient manner. The new roller shutters were configured for automatic operation with a “push-to-run” mechanism on the up cycle, providing a more efficient and user-friendly solution.

Fire Shutters

Strengthening Fire Protection Infrastructure at Dame Allan's Schools, Newcastle upon Tyne

Project Name: Dame Allan School

Location: Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of new fire shutters for Dame Allan’s School, Newcastle upon Tyne. The team were initially called to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the condition and functionality on their existing roller shutters. The client wanted to establish if the doors were still complaint with current fire safety standards as fire rated doors play a vital role in schools, safeguarding students, staff and visitors by preventing the rapid spread of flames. 

During this assessment the team discovered these no longer offered the adequate fire protection. Upgrading or modifying the existing doors was not an option. We recommended replacing the outdated non-compliant shutters with fire-rated shutter doors.

The BGS team took precise measurements to ensure the new doors would fit without the need for structural modifications, alongside working closely with the fabricators to make sure the supplied fire shutters met the required safety standards. Once the new shutters were delivered, the team prepared the site and installed the new doors, ensuring a perfect fit and secure placement before the beginning of the new academic term. After completing all necessary tests and adjustments, the BGS team carried out a detailed handover with a full demonstration of the door’s operation.

 

 

Traffic Barriers

Strengthening Site Access at Müller Severnside

Project Name: Müller

Location: Severnside, South Gloucestershire

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a traffic barrier for Müller at their site in Severnside aimed at improving security, traffic flow and accessibility. The new traffic barriers would need to be easy to operate, clearly situated, and structurally secure.

After introducing the client to a wide range of traffic barriers and confirming the product, the BGS team coordinated closely with the client to make sure that the installation work could be completed at a time that would not be disruptive to everyday business practices.

The installation process was completed using state of the art equipment. Post installation, the BGS team carried out thorough testing on the traffic barriers after installation to make sure they were operating correctly, as well as providing extensive maintenance advice with the client to keep their traffic barrier in the best possible condition. 

 

Long-Term Access Control Solution for EMCOR UK

Project Name: Emcor

Location: High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

 In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a traffic barrier for Emcor at their site in High Wycombe aimed to provide a viable long term and cost-effective solution that would bolster security and help make the barriers more reliable in their day-to-day functionality.

The BGS team were initially tasked with completing an assessment of the existing barriers to identify if these could be repaired. Upon inspection, it was clear the two barriers were in a state of disrepair with snapped boom arm, control faults and damaged loops in the ground lead to a long and effective long-term repair not being possible.  After introducing the client to a wide range of traffic barriers and confirming the product, the BGS team coordinated closely with the client to make sure that the installation work could be completed at a time that would not be disruptive to everyday business practices. The BGS team fitted a model that features LED lights for better nighttime visibility and a one-phase asynchronous motor that allows for high-frequency use. We also fitted new safety loops and safety photocells, as well as ensuring that new cables were connected to the gatehouse, granting the guards full control over the barriers. Along with being highly functional, the new barriers also have a sleek modern look, which has improved the appearance of the facility overall.

Repairing Corrosion-Damaged Access Control at Yankee Candle

Project Name: Yankee Candle

Location: Yankee Candle Warehouse, United Kingdom

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a traffic barrier for Yankee Candle at their facility site aimed to provide a viable long term and cost-effective solution that would bolster security and help make the barriers more dependable in their day-to-day functionality.

The main entrance into the Yankee Candle Facility is protected by an electric barrier that serves to regulate access in and out. The barrier had fallen into disrepair with corrosion forming that impacted the integrity and performance, leading to the barrier snapping entirely and collapsing to the ground, rendering this inoperable and impassable. This barrier directly served as the main access point, this needed to be replaced immediately.

After introducing the client to a wide range of traffic barriers and confirming the product, the BGS team coordinated closely with the client to make sure that the installation work could be completed at a time that would not be disruptive to everyday business practices.

Post installation, the BGS team conducted thorough testing on the traffic barriers after installation to make sure they were operating correctly, whilst also making sure that the barrier was set up and balanced correctly. We demonstrated to the customer how to use the barrier and apprised them of any safety features and activation works. We also consulted with the clients on how they wanted the barrier to be configured. This is because it’s possible with this barrier to change how the lights are set up.

Industrial Gates

Delivering Secure Access Solutions for SES Engineering Services

Project Name: SES (Engineering Services)

Location: Spinnigfields, Manchester

In this project, our group partner, BGS, was commissioned by SES (Engineering Services) Ltd, a leading UK-based M&E specialist, to supply and install a new automatic double swing gate system with a personnel gate at the entrance of their facility in Hardman Square, Spinningfields, Manchester. SES required a secure and automated access solution for their site to support the operational demands of a busy facilities hub while meeting safety and access standards.

BGS conducted a pre-installation survey and risk assessment to map out, not only safe working parameters but delivery logistics, due to the site location. All manoeuvres were conducted under controlled conditions, with full safety measures in place to protect the public and ensure compliance. The team installed the automatic double swing gate and personnel access leaf to exact specifications, ensuring full alignment, secure operation, and system integrity. The project was completed with no disruption to local foot traffic and without the need for structural modifications. 

After completing all necessary tests and adjustments, the BGS team conducted a detailed handover with a full demonstration of the gate’s operation and maintenance tips.

Restoring Secure Access at Hindpool Retail Park

Project Name: Hindpool Retail Park

Location: Barrow In Furness, Cumbria

In this project, our group partner, BGS, successfully delivered an installation of a new industrial gate for Hindpool Retail Park, Barrow In Furness. The team were initially called to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the condition and functionality on their existing gate as this had not been in use for many years. 

During this assessment, the team discovered the current gate was extremely old and resulting in this being no long safe and functional, with the old gate not being able to pass a force test due to its size and weight, therefore a replacement model was the necessary next step. The new industrial gate would need to be highly functional and safe for everyone on the site to use. While another company had offered a quote to replace the motor, they did not provide advice concerning safety devices, and our BGS team explained to the client that this is not correct to BS Standards. After a thorough consultation process, our team managed to source a brand-new industrial gate for the client that was suitable for their needs. The gate of choice was a Cantilever Gate.

After completing all necessary tests and adjustments, the BGS team conducted a detailed handover with a full demonstration of the gate’s operation and maintenance tips.

Upgrading Yard Access Infrastructure for Veripos

Project Name: Veripos

Location: Aberdeen, Scotland

In this project, our group partner, BGS, was commissioned by Veripos,, to upgrade their yard gate to a more efficient automated model.

The client aimed to modernise their operations by automating their large manually operated yard gate. Recognising the potential for significant improvements in operational efficiency and security, they tasked the BGS team with implementing a solution capable of managing the gate’s substantial size and frequent usage. This project was not merely about replacing a manual system but ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure without compromising performance.

BGS solution involved designing a system incorporating a heavy-duty three-phase (3ph) drive unit alongside an industrial-grade gate rack, selected for their durability and reliability. This configuration was well-suited to the demanding requirements of the site. We conducted a comprehensive site assessment, followed by meticulous planning and installation processes to avoid disrupting the client’s operations. The new automated gate system successfully replaced the manual process, enhancing site security and operational efficiency, and leaving the client fully satisfied.

After completing all necessary tests and adjustments, the BGS team conducted a detailed handover with a full demonstration of the gate’s operation and maintenance tips.
