Our popular side hinged doors offer a ‘traditional’ operation and are ideal if there are any obstructions within the garage. With excellent security and very durable construction, this ensures a long and trouble-free service for your side hinged garage doors. This door style oozes convenience. No more lifting doors above your head and no remotes required just simple and effective for easy access into your garage. Across our side hinged door range we have a variety of door types, styles and finishes.
Side hinged doors open as per a normal pedestrian door with two door leaves connected by hinges at the side to the main door frame. Customers can choose a 50/50 split with both doors of equal size, or an offset configuration, with one smaller personnel door. Our side hinged doors are available in a range of patterns, surfaces, and colours, and customers can choose from an array of additional fittings.
All the door leaf frames are made from galvanised steel. The robust hinges will provide long-term opening and closing that is dimensionally accurate. Choose whether to open both of the doors or just the active leaf and choose from a range of customisable fittings to personalise your doors.
Side Hinged steel doors
Novoferm side hinged doors are made of hot-dip galvanised sheet metal and a base coat of electrostatic polyester-based stove enamel provide the door with double protection against corrosion.
Large selection of designs / colours
Novoferm steel side hinged doors are available in numerous ribbed or raised panelled designs. The doors can be finished in one of 27 preferred colours from our vast colour range or almost any RAL colour of your choice.
Opening method
Side-hinged doors open as per a normal pedestrian door with two door leaves connected by hinges at the side to the main door frame. This consist of two doors that open “barn door” style rather than operating vertically.

If you’re looking to create brighter, more spacious interiors, you’ll want to invest in glazing for your steel side-hinged doors. At Novoferm, selected styles across our side hinged door range are available in a range of attractive designs to blend with your current house windows or doors. Our glazed windows are constructed from shatter resistant polycarbonate with a stippled, translucent anti reflective finish.
Transparent or clear windows are see-through and allow light into the garage. Translucent windows have a stippled effect which allows light into the garage but are not see-through. Plain black windows are decorative only and don’t allow any light into the garage.

Thumb Turn Cylinder
A thumb-turn cylinder locking mechanism is also available as an additional accessory across the Steel Side Hinged door range
Thumb-turn locks are a security solution for end users who can lock or unlock their doors without needing a key. With a key required to lock the door from the exterior, the thumb-turn lock on the interior provides health & safety benefits as well as offering an increase in convenience for the end user. An example of this would be in an emergency such as a fire; there is no need to worry & waste valuable time trying to locate your keys, with the thumb-turn offering a quick, key-free exit.
The thumb-turn is available in brushed silver, matching the handle. However, if an order is placed with a black handle, the thumb-turn itself will still be the brushed silver finish, with only the escutcheon matching the black handle.
