Fire Shutters
Fire Shutters
At Novoferm UK, we provide a wide range of industrial and commercial shutters designed to meet the demands of a wide range of applications. Our standard industrial doors, commonly found in warehouses, are known for their reliability, durability, and proven security. In contrast, our Sc1 Commercial Tube Motor range is specifically designed with careful attention to the aesthetics of the product to suit commercial applications. All solid lath types have undergone wind load testing to achieve up to Class 5, providing maximum protection against the elements. These doors are available in galvanised, plastisol, or powder-coated finishes and offer flexible operation options, including smartphone and keypad controls.
Product Specifications
Lath Options
Manufactured from cold rolled coil (thickness subject to door size) comprising a steel substrate in galvanised finish as standard with optional alternative mill finishes including Aluzinc and Plastisol subject to anti-corrosion and colour requirements. Each alternate lath is fitted with nylon endlocks as standard to prevent lateral movement. The curtain is completed with a rolled galvanised steel T or L section bottom rail to close off the bottom of the door with optional bottom weather seal. Compensating rails can also be provided for uneven surfaces.
- Various lath types are also available to meet specific requirements for different levels of security, vision, ventilation and aesthetic
- Plastisol standard range available & powder coated option to any standard RAL colour.

Single Skin Fire Rated Roller Shutters
Single Skin Fire Rated Roller Shutter Doors
Fc1 – commercial fire shutter
The Fc1 is powered by a 240V single phase tubular motor, ensuring long-term reliability for daily commercial use whilst maintaining a compact and aesthetically pleasing design. These doors are supplied as standard with a battery backup for fail safe closing in the event of power failure and comprise an anti-fallback safety brake device to meet the safeguarding requirements of EN12604.
Fc2 – industrial fire shutter
The Fc2 is equipped with an inline chain-driven industrial inline motor, available in single or three-phase options. This product is supplied as standard with solenoid release and fusible link mechanisms for fail safe closing in the event of power failure in a fire condition and comprises an anti-fallback safety brake device to meet the safeguarding requirements of EN12604.
Fc4 – manual fire shutter
The Fc4 is a manually operated fire shutter featuring an inline gearbox assembly mounted on the end plate at a high level. A manual haul chain connects to the gearing and hangs at a low level, allowing for manual hand chain operation. This model is typically designed where power to the area is not possible, or where the door is primarily intended to remain in the open position and close only to provide an effective fire barrier upon activation. Note that due to the manual gearbox operation, the Fc4 can be slow and is not generally recommended for frequent use. This door is supplied with a fusible link release mechanism as standard to provide closing on local heat detection in a fire situation and an anti-fallback safety brake device to meet the safeguarding requirements of EN12604.
Fire Resistance
Furnace tested to EN 1634-1 and rated up to 240 minutes integrity (E). Certificate of Constancy of Performance to the CE marking and performance characteristic requirements of BS EN 16034.
Curtain
Constructed from cold rolled 76mm galvanised steel scrolled laths fitted with cast steel endlocks to prevent lateral movement. Optional gauge of curtain 22swg, 20swg and 19swg subject to requirements and sizes.
Bottom Rail
Formed from a galvanised steel rolled T section as standard. Heavy duty options available for larger doors and weighted options made up from quirk sections and back to back galvanised steel angles.
Guides
The side guides are formed from cold rolled galvanised steel channels and prepared for mounting to the fixing angles.
Flag Sections
End plates and catcher plates fabricated from mild steel of adequate thickness relative to door size and in accordance with the EXAP requirements. These are fitted to the fixing angles to form the full height flag arrangement.
Barrel
The barrel is manufactured from mild steel tube of sufficient diameter and wall thickness to resist deflection whilst meeting the EXAP requirements. The tubular motor side is mounted in a bracket fitted to the end plate and the opposite end of the barrel comprises a safety brake to comply with the safeguarding requirements of EN12604. The barrel also comprises a catcher disc system to prevent the barrel dropping and minimise deflection in a fire situation.
Finish
Doors are supplied in galvanised finish as standard. Where heavy duty angles and plates comprise a self-colour mild steel finish, these parts will be finished in a factory reclaimed PPC for protection and aesthetic. Doors are also available in a full range of RAL colours at extra cost
Operation
Electrical operation is by means of a 240-volt single phase tubular motor. Standard control controls are by means of dead man up/down rocker switch or more secure key switch control. Optional alternative controls are available on request.
Fire Activation
Fc2
In a fire condition, activation is initiated by an incoming signal from the fire alarm system and closure is by electrically driven descent via a Basic or Audio Visual Fire Door Interface Panel. The system is supported by a full 240V battery backup system to ensure closing of the door in the event of power failure in a fire situation. Optional heat and smoke detector activators are also available subject to specific requirements.
Fc4
In a fire condition, activation is typically initiated by an incoming signal from the fire alarm system which is used to activate a solenoid release mechanism. Closure is by gravity-controlled descent on release of the solenoid mechanism or by brake release through the fucible link backup once the link reaches a temperature of 72oC. Optional heat and smoke detectors are also available subject to specific requirements
