For Homematic IP, you need the SmartHome control centre of the respective system and the Novoferm plug-on module to connect the operator and the Novoferm WiFi module to connect the operator. The Novoferm WiFi module is sufficient for Amazon Alexa and Google Home. You can use these SmartHome systems for the intelligent control of garage door openers from Novoferm (NovoPort®, Novomatic 443, Novomatic Speed 573 S).
All apps are available free of charge in the App Store for Apple and Android devices.
Once the app has been installed, the solution can be set up quickly and intuitively on your smartphone.
If you already have a SmartHome system from one of our partners, you can of course also integrate your sectional garage door into it.

VENTILATION POSITION IMPROVES AIR CIRCULATION IN THE GARAGE
Exhaust fumes and moisture affect the air quality in your garage. Regular ventilation provides a remedy here, ensures sufficient air circulation and prevents mould growth. The door can be conveniently set to the ventilation position via app/voice command, i.e. it opens by 10 cm and allows air exchange.

FAST INTEGRATION WITH THE INNOVATIVE WIFI MODULE FROM NOVOFERM
Anyone who chooses a Novoferm sectional garage door can easily integrate the door control with the new Novoferm WiFi module into the world's largest SmartHome systems "Amazon Alexa" and "Google Home".
Only the Novoferm WiFi module is required for integration.
You do not need a separate SmartHome centre or a gateway.
Intelligent operation is therefore not dependent on a local SmartHome system.
The Novoferm WiFi module for the smart control of garage doors can be easily retrofitted to all operators built in 2016 or later and is simply connected to the operator via a mini-USB. No additional hardware is required.
Novoferm garage doors thus simply become part of the Amazon Alexa or Google world.

OPTIMUM VENTILATION
Would you like your garage door to open automatically if the humidity in the garage gets too high?
Then set a corresponding ventilation scenario! Specify that the garage door automatically moves to the ventilation position when sensors report a corresponding humidity level.
If the door is not closed manually, it closes after 60 minutes at the latest. This prevents it from remaining open accidentally!

INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION
Installing the technology to operate your sectional garage door via app/voice command or to integrate it into a SmartHome system compatible with our products is relatively simple. Basically, the steps below are similar for all systems. Any special features are explained in the descriptions provided.
NECESSARY COMPONENTS
Sectional door, operator, standard router with internet connection, SmartHome app and, if applicable, the partner's voice assistant. Depending on the SmartHome system, you may also need the following components:

Once the door and operator have been installed by a qualified Novoferm sales partner, the smart garage door components can be installed.
SYSTEMS WITH SMARTHOME CONTROL CENTRE: INTEGRATION OF THE SMARTHOME CONTROL CENTRE
In the home:
The SmartHome centre controls the communication between the individual SmartHome components. To do this, it must first be connected to the power supply and to the router via LAN cable. The internet connection is necessary so that the control centre can also be operated remotely.
Please follow the specific instructions of the respective manufacturer! The control centre must be initially configured in the apps of the SmartHome partners in accordance with the instructions so that the Novoferm sectional garage door can be operated.
DRIVE CONNECTION
In the garage:
To integrate the operator into the system, connect the plug-on or WiFi module to the mini-USB interface in the operator. You will find the connection point when you open the cover flap of the operator.
Once plugged in, the module automatically goes into "learning mode" for a limited period of time. The module must then be removed and plugged in again.
Note:
For Homematic IP, this is step 2, for Amazon and Google the installation begins with the connection of the drive.
SETUP APP
Start theHomematic IP app, assign the plug-on or WiFi module to the SmartHome centre and activate the "Teach in devices" option. The module is now displayed as a new device.
Alexa and Google:
Connect the WiFi module to your own WLAN, create a Novoferm account, add the WiFi module there and link it to the respective system. Once the operator has been learnt, it is assigned to different categories/rooms (outside, garage, etc.). This is necessary for operation and automation (lighting, alarm scenarios, etc.).

Which components do I need for door control via app?
- The Novoferm garage door opener installed by a suitably trained fitter (from year of manufacture 2016).
- Commercially available router (usually provided by the internet provider) required.
- SmartHome control centre from the respective compatible provider (Homematic IP). No SmartHome control centre is required for Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
- The appropriate Novoferm plug-on module must be available (WiFi module for Mediola, Google Home and Amazon Alexa).
- An app on an operating device (mobile phone or tablet) is required, which can be downloaded free of charge from the relevant app store.
- A light barrier on the garage door is mandatory to ensure safe operation even when the door is not visible.
SOURCES OF SUPPLY END CUSTOMER
- Novoferm garage doors and garage door operators are available from Novoferm sales partners/specialist dealers, who can also organise the professional installation of the door/operator.
- The respective compatible SmartHome control centre including the matching Novoferm plug-on modules for the operator are available from the Novoferm sales partner/specialist retailer. Data protection and data security
Is data security guaranteed?
Homematic IP does not collect any personal data in the area of smart home solutions and therefore follows the principle of data minimisation and data avoidance with maximum consistency. The Homematic IP Cloud is operated on German servers and is subject to German data protection regulations.
How does data transmission to the Internet work with Homematic IP and is it secure?
The communication of the Home Control Access Point to the Homematic IP Cloud and the connections of the apps to the Cloud are also reliably protected by established Internet security procedures.
How does data transmission to the Internet work with Google Home and Amazon Alexa and is it secure?
With the smarthome systems from Google or Alexa, the systems communicate from cloud to cloud via an internet connection (Wi-Fi).
The data is encrypted and stored on German servers to the extent necessary.
